But it has also been used in many different over the counter products before and since Proactiv. It works its way into the pores killing all bacteria. However, despite the fact that benzoyl peroxide is effective for a large portion of the population, there is also a significant portion of the population that does not respond to it at all.

Side Effects

Despite the fact that Proactiv has tried to counteract the negative side effects of benzoyl peroxide mostly with moisturizers, they have failed to come through. Users have reported dry, red, itchy, peeling, damaged skin, and skin that is extremely sensitive to the sun when using this product. However, many do not report cessation in their acne.

Proactiv uses an extremely common approach to acne treatment. But people are more likely to buy it, because it was supposedly developed by dermatologists. It comes with quite a few side effects and all too often, no real benefits. There are plenty of cheap clones, but why not just find something all together better?
